Specific patches can be found here:
[RoC] ftp.blizzard.com/pub/war3/patches
[TFT] ftp.blizzard.com/pub/war3x/patches
- 1.01 Welcome to Battle.net!
- 1.03 Computer AI with three difficulties (Easy) (Normal) (Insane) introduced!
- 1.06 Armor types introduced!
- 1.13 World Editor receives a lot of upgrades and additions.
- 1.15 Tiny map size introduced! (32×32)
- 1.18 Echo Isle added! (My favorite TFT map, download it for RoC here.)
- 1.21b The CD is no longer required to play!
- 1.22 Some map making tools broken (see below).
- 1.23 The return bug was removed. No more H2I. But we got HashTables.
- 1.24 The multiplayer map size limit was increased from 4MB to 8MB.
- 1.26 Current patch version.
Advanced map makers now have two installs of Warcraft, because 1.22 broke Grimoire, war3err, and japi (important tools for JASSers). I maintain three separate War3 installs, because I make RoC maps, and they need to be tested in a RoC-only environment too. (To make sure I didn't use anything that's TFT-only. Otherwise the map would crash.)

Blizzard deleted all old patches from their FTP site a few months ago. Sorry. We'll need to find them elsewhere today.

I noticed that I tried to play some old maps that I used to love that they are just invalid. I loaded them up into editor and i found it had 7k+ compiler errors in the trigger scripts. I haven't really played since 2011 (ish) and was wondering if there was a major JASS change or H2I or associated stuff no longer works.

Hi,
Somehow I missed your comment last month. Here is my (very late) response:
Yes, instead of the return bug we got tons of new natives to play with. They do what the return bug used to do, but are more wordy and spammy. Also, annoyingly enough, the return bug was disabled (fixed) and since it was more powerful than the new natives we got, some maps don't 100% convert to the new system. Remaining forever broken or at the very least lacking in some H2I-related features.
Also maps aren't converted automatically with the patch, map makers must make the necessary changes by hand. Many mappers have quit since, leaving their maps outdated forever.
I fix popular maps with H2I for a few dollars in my spare time. Whether the map is protected or not, makes no difference. (Though deprotection costs extra…) Risks are carried by the buyer, I cannot offer warranty or make any guarantees.
I apologize for not replying sooner. Hope the subject still interests you.
